Wealth

The lady had money, covered herself in brands, furs, jewelries. Then they started melting on her, turned earthy brown and fused into the soil below her.

Excuses

Mary’s sick. So are Anna and Tom. John’s “feeling” kind of sick so he’s not here. And then there’s Ray who has a fever, and also William who’s even sicker. Edgar and Lily have been gone for the last eight days because Lily had the chicken pox and gave it to Edgar when they were playing in the sand box together. Ronnie’s just gone and Chloe, well, she never comes to school so it makes sense that she’s not here today. Denis is out of town –family visit. Oh right, Paris was also sick; she caught the “new” influenza. Donald has a doctor’s appointment today, Hanna has to go see her orthodontist, and Isaiah has to go see his eye doctor because he always complains how the pictures in the books I read aren’t big enough for him to see. Robert’s in the hospital because he has kidney problems and Christina has cancer so she’s with him. So, seventeen kids are out today and only six kids are left in this class. But Cassie’s mom’s coming in the next hour or so, so that makes five kids. But then there’s Steven who’s been telling me his tummy hurts for this past ten minutes so I called his mom and she said she was on her way. Dolly’s grandpa’s visiting from Texas so she’s going to the airport with her sister and mom at one. So basically, three kids are all I have left…. Well, two now that Elena went to the health center because her head hurts and then Colin who out of nowhere, started crying and whining about how he misses his daddy and he wouldn’t stop crying. I gave him toys, read him books, I even gave him lollipop in front of the other students but that didn’t stop him from whining so I had to call daddy up and have Colin leave the classroom.

So there’s Billy and me, one on one, no one else. Then I got a call from my mom saying that dad just passed away. So… well, Billy I’m sorry but I have to go.

 Sky

She flew up the sky with her wings. Up high, past the roof of her house, above the trees, along with the birds, airplanes, until her mama and papa were smaller than ants and her house was a grey box, she flapped her wings. She gazed down below, where her parents would fight all day, where her sister gave up on life, where Stacy and Carmen talked about how she didn’t deserve to be their friend, where Spot, the dog, was killed by a drunk driver. Then her wings tore off, and she started falling down.

                         Picture

She was sitting alone in the living room. From the opened window a stream of wind blew up the beige curtains, then her blonde hair with a moment of delay. Her grey hair appears for a moment, then the gold hair covered over them, again and again as the wind blew. She sat still on the edge of the couch as if someone was sitting next to her. She sat all day long doing nothing. Perhaps she was soaking her mind in her old memories. Remembering those days when she was still young, when there was always someone next to her, laughing together, smiling together.

On the L shaped shelf, next to her, are rows of picture frames faced upside down. Can’t bear looking at them, but can’t put them away.

            Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood [16; 4’5”] (carrying a basket [over her head] [Wood, bamboo, wheat, other grasses, rushes, twigs, osiers {Salix viminalis}, flax, or wicker are often used to make baskets, this one, bamboo{fastest-growing plant on earth, low calorie w/ potassium}] full of sour bread (baked by LRRH), sausage (raw so LRRH can cook @ grandma’s place[house placed alone in the [tropical rain] forest, far from village]) that her mom made [she learned how to make sausage from the new comers who’re trying to convert the whole villagers into Christian b/c they’re barbarian] by slaughtering the pig [black spot around his left eye [brown] and tail, named Juicy] in their yard,(did they even have yard back then? *Find diff word*) and tea [also brought by the Christians]) went to visit [walked [skipping, hopping, dragging] through the forest [filled with those dangly trees] for [about] two miles] her sick grandma [67] but on the way [1/7 in the [rain]forest{provide 28% of worlds oxygen}], she meets (encounter?) a [gray] wolf {Canis lupus, ice age survivor}[shouldn’t be in rainforest & shouldn’t be wandering around alone (but this one was adopted by a monkey{Cebus albifrons} in the forest [George of the Jungle])]. The wolf {Canis lupus} wants to eat LRRH (usually [Gray] wolf {Canis lupus} doesn’t eat “inexperienced” [have-not-eaten-yet] prey which means this wolf have eaten other human?) but because he is afraid (if he had feeling that we know of (classifies as ego? Superego? (of being caught by someone and him getting killed instead? Or having his food [LRRH] taken?))) to eat her in public (which would be the forest (afraid of being caught by the monkeys? (being isolated by his “family” who adopted him?)), he decides to camouflage [dress up in w/e grandma’s going to be wearing] as her grandma (I should name her for less confusion) and eat [gulp] her [LRRH] when she comes [in the house

He convinces (like saying “Hi I’m a wolf, how are you?? Oh you’re going to see how your grandma’s doing? How sweet of you, how about you stay here and pick some flower for your grandma while I go and eat her up so I can eat you too?) LRRH to pick some [sufficient amount to make her grandma happy] flowers. and while she picked flowers{Rosa gymnocarpa, Mimulus tilingi, Saxifracageae, Cornus unalaschkensis}, he disguised himself [[grey] wolf] [Grandma[ _____ ] must have been close to deaf for not the diff btn wolf’s voice and her own granddaughter’s voice] as LRRH (______, I’m here) and went to _____’s house [the one’s with only a roof (made from twigs? (wouldn’t they leak when it rains? {9ft/year}) and nothing else) and eat her.

LRRH comes to _____’s house and finds something wrong with her ______ [i.e. hairy, low voice, [wolfy] odd shaped ear] but [b/c wolf was able to give all these good excuses [i.e. oh yeah I started wearing wigs to hide my baldness, maybe because I’m sick, must be from the weight loss, my whole face got sharper] ends up getting eaten. While the wolf is taking a nap {naping right after eating decreases digestive activity(which may be why LRRH and ______ didn’t die in the wolf’s {Canis lupus} stomach)}, LRRH and _______ yells for help. Hearing their voice, a nearby hunter comes and rescues them. They then filled the wolf’s stomach with frogs [poisonous {usually bright colors such as red, blue, orange, black, and yellow}] [found in the forest when LRRH was picking up the flowers {Rosa gymnocarpa, Mimulus tilingi, Saxifracageae, Cornus unalaschkensis}and decided to take some with her because of the beautiful colors [red, orange, yellow, black, blue] and he died.

Weather

Today was sunny, so was yesterday, this whole week, month, years. But no worries, we have plenty of water from the Atlantic ice that melted during these years from the years of rain before this drought. Today was sunny, so will tomorrow, and the days after tomorrow. Then when it gets a little too dry, maybe it will start raining again and they’ll flood the soil.

Room

He’s in a room filled with males and females of different ages, and different colors. The room has no windows, just the door they came from and the door they’ll leave through. They scream for help, cry for help. They bang on the walls to see if there’s any way out but the walls are made of cement and doesn’t move a bit. The door they’ll be leaving through opens, then the door behind them opens. More are pushed in. He is pushed in, forward, into the open door in front. The door closes behind them and gas starts filling the new room. They cry for help. Gases fill up the room. They cry for help. Gases fill up the room. They cr—

Dream

He held up the blade and swung his hands down. A squeak echoed in his head. Warmness covered his hands then face. It dripped down his skin, slowly, from his chin to his collarbone, to his chest to his thighs. The warm blood covered his body and something deep inside him woke up.

Lolita

She is neither. Can’t be called a kid, but not grown enough to be consider as an adult. She still has a rounded face with lovely little eyes, she still has her sweet voice that flows like a creek, and she still loves her teddy bears. Yet parts of her body are starting to show marks of a grown woman. Her breasts have blossomed pink and they easily fill her cupped hands. Her arms that used to shoot straight out from her shoulders now come with a curved angle and now, she bleeds once a month and learned to be modest. She won’t play with the boys like she used to. She won’t ride on the back of their bicycle, she won’t play tag all day with them, and she won’t slide down the hills with them. But still, when she sees them around, she wishes she could ride on their bicycle, she wishes she could play tag all day, she wishes she could slide down the hills with the cardboard box they would steal from the shops.

Mirror

I brush my hair and look at myself in the mirror. She too, brushes her hair and looks at me in the eye. I reach for my toothbrush. She too reaches for her toothbrush. I brush my teeth. She too brushes her teeth, left then right, right then left. I rinse my mouth, she rinses her mouth, I put back the toothbrush, she puts her toothbrush back. I turn back and reaches for the door, she stares at me as I walked out the door.
