A RED KISS
He drunkly stumbled, crashing into the wall. Where there was a small table. Which was crushed. His wife hears the crash & hurries into the room. The man foolishly dances with his wife, whispering a soft romance song in her ear. It was the song they played at their wedding. Still whispering he said, "Honey, I love you." She softly strokes his back to show comfort, until there it was plain to see yet again Cherry Red 76.
“Another one?" she asked.
He mumbles under his breath
nodding. She slapped him across the face. To her this was a re-run of the last
time he tried to pull this bullshit on her. In the end he explained the lips
belonged to a stripper at a night club named Mya.
"I sure hope you can explain this one."
"Sweetheart times are hard."
"So you’re telling me we're nothing?"
"Why are you so upset?"
"It's nothing darling."
"Oh it's nothing my ass."
"To you it's nothing to me it's us down the drain."
"Our fighting has me through."
"What are you saying?"
"Honey it's gotten to the point where I've just given up."
She digs in her purse searching for a tube of her own. To prove it was nothing
like hers.
"What are you doing now?"
"I'm going to show you."
"Show me what?"
"You just wait and see."
"I don't have time for this bullshit. I’m leaving." He storms out the door to
nothing. He has no friends-he has no place to go. Lonely and tired he walks to a
phone booth. After deep thought he works up the
courage to call up an old friend. The phone rang about three times until he
heard her soft voice.
"Greesley residence." She sang into the phone.
"Uhm. Hello Tanya?"
"Yes this is she. May I ask who's speaking?" the man pulls the phone away from
his cheek and nervously stares at the receiver.
"Yes this is Martin. Martin Townsend, remember me from the white party?"
"Oh yes I remember you very well."
"I figured you would on account of that number you did on me."
"So what's got you calling' this time of night Martin?"
" Well my lady and I had sort of a fight. I kind of need a place to stay."
"All right Martin, you can stay one night but that's it."
" No problem I'll be gone before you know it."
"See you soon."
"All right."
"I’m at 27th & Hill to be exact."
There Martin waits about thirty mins. until she arrives. He walks towards the
car, nervously grabs the handle and plops down in the passenger seat. He
couldn’t believe she pulled up in a Toyota Camry. He expected a Mercedes or
something. They pull away from the curb pretty fast. His neck jerked and he hit
his head kind of hard. Her house
was further than he thought. He soon realized she was intoxicated-from her
swerving. The roads were wet from the earlier showers-which added more fear to
my ride. As soon as they pull in the driveway he gets out the car and waits by
the door. Tanya slowly approaches the steps with her eyes low and red.
"What were you drinking?"
"Just a little eggnog and Henessy." She loudly slurred.
"You save me any?"
"Yeah but are you sure you should be drinking? You do remember the last
time."(If I have one more drink! I’m gone end up fuckin' you!)
Tanya and martin hooked up after the recent White party. They were all over each
other throughout the whole night. Martin talked about his wife and blabbed about
their problems while Tanya listened and stroked his back for comfort. At the end
of the night they both were drunk and horny. So she asked him to come back to
her place for the night. He of course accepted the invite. They took a limo home
and during the ride they teased each other along the ride. He licked her
earlobe. She caressed his “package” and they made out.. But once they got to her
room they hit the sheets FAST!
“Sure I remember what happened before. Who said it’s going to happen again?”
Suddenly the doorbell rings and someone was repeatedly banging on the front door.
A woman began to yell,
“Martin I know you’re in there!”
“Oh shit! Lola?” Martin whispers.
Tanya starts towards the door but Martin gets in her way.
“What are you doing?” he asks.
Silently she brushes him out of her path.
“I called her when we got of the phone. I told her to come over.”
“What! Why?
“You guys are having problems so fix it.”
She opens the door to see Lola on the porch crying.
“Hey girl. Come on in, he’s in the living room.”
“Hey thanks for calling me.”
Lola makes her way to the living room to find her deceiving husband staring at her in awe.
“So what did you think you were doing?”
“Honey, I just had no other place to go.”
“Yeah well who told you to leave the house?”
“No one I just didn’t want to argue.”
“Still be a man and face what you bring upon yourself. You coward!” she yelled.
“Okay honey I apologize. This is bullshit.”
Lola was so upset she wiped all the magazines of the coffee table and accidentally pushed Tanya’s purse on to the floor. A couple of things fall out and roll under the couch.
“I’m sorry Tanya let me get that. I’m just so upset.” Lola said.
She begins searching under the couch and surprisingly finds a tube of lipstick. Cherry red 76 to be exact. She quickly hops to her feet and begins questioning Tanya.
“Is this yours?”
“Let me see girl. Oh no that’s my sister’s. Why girl it’s just lipstick?”
“Mmhu so what’s your sisters name?”
“Mya why?”
Lola looks at Martin. Before he could even say a word she began yelling at him.
“Fuck you Martin! You can stay here for all I care. I want a divorce.”
She storms out the door and heads back home no longer wanting what she came for.
