The Little Brave Boy
by Adnan Shah
Once upon a time there lived a little Muslim prince name Adnan. He was very clever or smart as one would say, but he had bad luck. No one in the town would tell him that he was a prince for it would bring back a curse put on the town. If this was to happen many bad things would occur to everyone in the town. Some people said his father was kidnapped and taken to a far away land, but no one really knew what had happened to him. Everything that his father owned was hidden in a cave before he was kidnapped. One day as Adnan was cleaning his house he came across a book. It had no title or any design on it but something was telling him that the book would help him find his father. Inside it contained a letter that was addressed to Adnan and his mother. It read:
Dear wife and son,
I wish I could stay and watch my son grow but, unfortunately, I must leave. I have hidden all the treasure in the Bora Bora cave where no one will steal it. My hope is that one day as my son becomes a man he can find this treasure.
Sincerely, king Shah
As soon as he read the letter Adnan was gone. As smart as he was he knew how to find Bora Bora. When he got there he saw bags filled with gold, his father’s sword, and a book. The book contained a map and there was three places marked on it. In order for Adnan’s father to come back he had to go to the highest place in the world, then to the bottom of the ocean and ride the fastest animal to the other side of the world.

Adnan was walking along a river when he said to himself what can take me to the highest place in the world. Right then a goose appeared. She said: “Don’t be afraid, but Adnan are you looking for some one to take you to the highest place in the world?”
“Well yes. But how do you know my name?” Responded Adnan.
“I flew over the sky when you were born. We had big parades and lots of fun, but then your father suddenly disappeared. This whole town turned bad, no one came to feed us and no one came to protect us from being eaten by the coyotes.” Explained the goose.
“This is why I am willing to help you. If only you can get me some food because I have not eaten in awhile.” Requested the goose.
“Sure I will. But I have no money.”
Suddenly Adnan remembered the gold his father had hidden in the cave. He quickly went to the treasure filled his pockets with gold and ran to the town’s market to buy a hundred buckets of fish. After feeding the geese and coyotes the coyotes promised Adnan that they would no longer eat geese.
Happy with Adnan’s gift he and the goose went off to Mount Everest, the highest place in the world. There he had to find a gold rose and bring it back to town and let no one see it, not even his mother. From up high Adnan could see the town people, his friends and his house. Once he reached the top of Mount Everest he found the gold rose and secretly brought it back his room where he could keep it hidden from all to see.

The next day Adnan went on a walk again and this time he said to himself: “where can I find the fastest animal to take me to the other side of the world?”. Out of the bushes jumped out a very spotted cheetah. Adnan knew not to panic and to stand still. “Don’t fear me but Adnan are you looking for some one to take you to the other side of the world?” Asked the cheetah.
“Well, yes. But how do you know my name.”
“I watched from the bushes when you were born. We had parades and lots of fun but suddenly your father disappeared. Everyone blamed the cheetahs and we had to hide from the town’s people. This is why I am willing to help you. If only you can get me some food because I haven’t eaten in a while.” Requested the cheetah
This time Adnan did not forget about the gold. He quickly went to the treasure filled his pockets with gold and ran to the town’s market to buy a hundred pounds of meat. He fed all the cheetahs.
And off they went to the other side of the world. There he had to find two golden eggs and bring them back to the town and let no one see it not even his mother. On the way, Adnan saw lots of nice places, big castles and rivers. He found the two golden eggs and brought them back to keep them hidden in his room.

The next day Adnan was walking by the ocean when he said to himself: “where can I find an animal to take me to the bottom of the ocean?” Suddenly a huge whale jumped out of the ocean. “Don’t be afraid. Adnan are you looking for some one to take you to the bottom of the ocean?” Asked the whale.
“Well, yes. But how do you know my name?” asked Adnan.
“I remember when you were born your parents took you to the beach. There we had parades and lots of fun but suddenly your father disappeared. No one knows what happened to him,” said the whale. “This is why I am willing to help you. If only you can get me some food because I haven’t eaten in awhile.” Requested the whale.
“Oh, sure I will.” Said Adnan.
Adnan quickly went to the treasure filled his pockets with gold and ran to the town’s market to buy a hundred pounds of shrimp. He fed all the whales.
And off they went to the bottom of the ocean. There he had to find three golden fishes and bring it back to town and let no one see it, not even his mother. On the way Adnan saw many different animals; they were all playing around even the sharks. At the bottom of the ocean he found the three golden fishes. From all these trips Adnan was really tired so he went to sleep.

The next day Adnan took the golden rose, the two golden eggs and the three golden fishes to the Bora Bora caves. The book said to put it all in a big pot and boil it. As Adnan did that he waited, but nothing happened. He knew to be patient and so he waited more. An hour passed and then two and then three, but nothing happened. Adnan was getting hungry, but it was not the right time. Adnan had no more hope and he was about to reach down to put out the fire when suddenly someone tapped him on the shoulder.
Adnan turned around and it was his father. They hugged and went home. Adnan told the whole story to his mother. How the goose took him to the highest mountain, how the cheetah took him to the other side of the world, and how the whale took him to the bottom of the ocean. She was so proud of him. The next day they had a huge partywith big parades and everyone had lots of fun. The party didn’t end until everyone paid a visit to the geese, the cheetahs and the whales.
Adnan and his family built a new castle on top of a hill and everyone lived happily ever after.
