The Crystal Doll

            by Sara Nazeer

Far in the Middle East lived a little girl Sara with her sister, papa, mama, and a grandmother. Sara’s papa was a wood Cutter. He cut wood all day in the jungle and sold them in the city. That’s how Sara’s family made a living.

Sara’s greatest passion was to collect dolls of every kind. Every birthday Sara got a new doll from her father.

When Sara turned seven she asked her father for a doll, that was everything to her. She wanted something so different that no one had ever seen. Sara told her papa that she wanted a doll that was made of crystal. Sara’s papa was surprised and didn’t know how to get Sara a crystal doll. Her papa had to cut more woods and sell more woods so Sara could get what she wanted.

Sara waited and waited for so many days to get her crystal doll. But everyday she waited for her papa to come with her doll, but her papa always told her

“I will bring it tomorrow”.

The rain was pouring hard. Sara’s papa was still in the city selling woods. Sara was so excited because she was going to get her crystal doll. She waited and waited, but her papa never showed up. It was raining harder then it was before.

Sara’s mama told her to go to bed.

But Sara wanted to wait for her papa. After some time Sara go tired and fall asleep.

The next morning when Sara woke up, her crystal doll was next to her. She screamed from excitement and jumped up and down calling her mama.

“Look mama I got what I wanted”.

But when Sara saw her papa she was sad, her papa was sick. He had fever.

“Come in Sara” papa said coughing.

“What happened papa”? Sara asked worriedly.

“Nothing your papa just has a little fever” grandmother replied.

Sara left her papa’s room and was so sad that her crystal doll had made her papa sick.             She wished that she had never wanted a crystal doll. Sara put her crystal doll to a side and got ready for school.

On the way to school, Sara was just thinking about her papa. She wanted to through away that crystal doll. She hated it so much.

When Sara got home. Her mama was taking her papa to the doctor.

“Sara your papa is very sick” Grandmother said.

Sara just went straight into her room and started crying. She took her crystal doll and said, “You made my papa sick I don’t want you”.

When Sara’s papa and mama got home. Sara’s mama was so worried.

At night time Sara heard her grandmother and mama talk about her fathers sickness.” We need more money to buy medicine” Sara’s mama said.

“I have some money that you can take” grandmother said.

Sara felt so bad. At nighttime she left her crystal doll next to her papa and wrote a note saying “Sell this doll so that papa can get his medicine”.

The next morning when Sara woke up she saw her papa walking and laughing. She was so surprised. She hugged her papa.

“Sara I have something for you” Sara’s papa said.

    “What papa?” Sara said.

Her papa gave her the crystal doll.

“Sara this is something that you always wanted; this doll is very special”.

Sara got tears in her eyes and told her papa “I don’t want it because she made you sick papa”.

“No she didn’t make me sick it was the rain” Sara’s papa said.

Sara took her crystal doll back. She was so happy that her papa was all right, but she wondered how her papa got better.

Sara went to her room and put her crystal doll next to her doll collection.

The next morning when Sara woke up her crystal doll wasn’t where she had put it. She looked and looked for it everywhere, but she couldn’t find her crystal doll.

Later she found her crystal doll in her grandmother’s room. When she picked up her doll there was money underneath the doll. Sara was surprised. She went and gave her grandmother the money that she had found under the crystal doll.

“What is this Sara?” Grandmother said.

    “Your money Grandmother” Sara replied.

“Well this is not mines Sara; where did you find it” grandmother said.

“Grandmother I found it in your room under my crystal doll” Sara replied.

    Grandmother was so shocked.

The next day Sara came from school. Sara started doing her homework. She had so much homework to do that she fall asleep without even finishing half of it. The next morning when Sara woke up, she saw that all her homework was done and piled nicely next to her crystal doll.

Now Sara was suspicious that there was something wrong with the crystal doll.

Sara went and asked her papa about the doll.

“Sara like I said that this doll is very special and let me tell you another thing remember when you said that you wanted a doll that was everything to you well this is it; this doll will always help you” Sara’s papa said.

Sara smiled and looked at her crystal doll and thanked her papa for the crystal doll.

After that Sara and her family lived happily ever after.
