Das Geschichte der Schokoladeland

            by Gang Huang

Once upon a time, in Germany there lived Edgar and Betty. Edgar and Betty loved chocolate, the sweet, sweet chocolate. One morning, Betty woke up, with a present next to her head. She woke Edgar and told him about the unexpected gift. Edgar wondered what was packed inside, and rushed to open it with his might. What he saw inside the box were eight chocolate coins and a chocolate poodle. He took the coin and started to un-wrap its wrap. Betty took the cat but placed next to her side. Edgar ate the first coin while Betty stared at her chocolate poodle still intact.

“Are you going to eat yours?” asked Edgar.

“No, I don’t want to hurt him,” said Betty.

“Well I don’t care. My coin taste good,” said Edgar, finishing the second coin.

“I think I’ll save the rest after my nap. I’m still sleepy.”

“I’m sleepy too. I’m going to sleep. Good night!” said Betty, lying back down on her own bed.

“Wake up Betty! Wake up!” said Edgar shaking Betty’s arm.

“What is it, Edgar? I’m still sleepy,” said Betty.

“Look around! Look around! I bet you can’t guess where we are!”

Betty opened her eyes and looked around. As far as she can see, everything was made of chocolate. From chocolate trees to chocolate rocks, chocolate mountains to chocolate lakes. The sun was chocolate, the road was chocolate – everything was chocolate. Even the birds and the fish were made of chocolate.

            “This is amazing!” said Betty.

            “Ja! It is great alright.”

Edgar and Betty decided to follow the dark chocolate pebbled road. As they went further, they became very tired.

“Hey, there is an apple tree, no I mean a chocolate apple tree over there!” shouted Edgar.

“You are right Edgar, let’s grab a tasty chocolate apple,” said Betty.

Edgar and Betty walked right under the chocolate apple tree and snatched two milk chocolate apples from the chocolate apple tree. Once they were done with their first milk chocolate apple, they grabbed another one, and another, and another, and another one, until they became very satisfied with their stomach.

After their apple treat, they decided to keep walking down the dark chocolate pebbled road. Suddenly, they hear a shouting sound coming from behind them. Edgar and Betty decided to look back and saw a chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing and a chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing chasing after them. Right away, Edgar and Betty decided to run for their lives.

“Why are they chasing us, Edgar?” asked Betty while running as hard as she could.

“Shaise, how would I know,” said Edgar while running as hard as he could.

After running for ten minutes, Edgar and Betty came to a dead end; they came to the bottom of the rocky chocolate mountain. Because the chocolate farmers was still chasing after them, they decided to confront the chocolate farmers instead.

“How dare you eating our apples, you thieves!” said the angry chocolate farmer with the white chocolate clothing, after catching up to Edgar and Betty.

“I’m sorry, but we are not thieves. We didn’t know the apples were yours. Is there anything we can do?” said Betty.

“Well, if you are not thieves, you’ve got to buy them. You ate eight apples, that would be eight brown coins,” said the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing.

“But we don’t have any brown coins,” said Betty puzzled.

Just then, Edgar pulled out his chocolate coins and said, “Are these the brown coins?”

“Yes, those are the ones. You have six. You just need two more,” said the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing.

“But I ate the last two coins…”

“Ha! So you are thieves after all! You must be punished!” said the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing.

“You can’t punish us! We were lost and became hungry. Please, let us go!” said Betty.

“That’s not possible,” said the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing.

Suddenly, the chocolate poodle jumped out of Betty’s pocket and started to attack the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing. The chocolate poodle bit the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing on his leg, but the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing and the chocolate farmer with almond clothing started to beat on the chocolate poodle. In the end, the chocolate poodle shattered into small bits and pieces of sweet, sweet chocolates.

“Nein!” cried Betty while moaning for the loss of the chocolate poodle.

The chocolate farmers became very furious and walked closer to Edgar and Betty. Suddenly, Edgar jumped toward the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing and started to bite on him. After three bites, Edgar had eaten the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing’s left arm. Then another three bites – his right arm.

“Ach! You ate my arms! You are my arms!” said the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing.

“You monster!” said the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing.

“You taste great! Here Betty, you should try some too!” said Edgar.

Edgar punched the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing and his torso broke off. He picked up the torso and handed it to Betty.

“Danke, Edgar,” said Betty, biting on the chocolate farmer with almond chocolate clothing’s torso. “It tastes just like almond chocolate!”

“You monsters!” said the chocolate farmer with white chocolate clothing, chucking the coins at them while running away.

“Well, you got your chocolate coins back, Edgar,” said Betty

“Ja, and I think I like the chocolate coins better than that chocolate farmer,” said Edgar

And Edgar and Betty kept walking down the black chocolate pebble road, eating their chocolate coins.
