A New Day For My Star

1. STARS

Miley opens and almost turns upside down her closet to find her blue dress which

her boyfriend’s favorite color. Miley wears it with her new silver heels, puts on her a

light natural makeup. She always puts more blush on her cheeks whenever she goes out

with him just because once he kissed her on her cheeks and whispered he loved her cute

cheeks. Miley grabs her handbag, checks herself out one more time in front of the

mirror, and hurries going to their familiar coffee shop. Jack, her boyfriend, says he liked

the shop’s ceiling, it is a perfect model of mysterious night sky, by looking at it, he can

see all constellations map of Cancer, Libra, Virgo, Aquarius,…

That coffee shop was also their full of memorized place when Miley and Jack first

met each other. Jack was so attracted by her beautiful eyes.

- Those eyes were sparkling like these stars on the coffee shop ceiling. There is

something in those eyes that sometimes flashed sadness, Jack thought.

Somehow, the sadness attracted him and Jack could not stop thinking about that girl. He

stepped forward to talk to her.

- Excuse me, would you mind if I sit here?

But no response. Jack continued, the more Miley ignored him, the more curious

he wanted to know Miley. “ You know what, I think your family are stealers…”he said,

looked up on the ceiling. Miley was in shock, she made a angry glance to him, “ excuse

me???”

Jack finished his sentence, “ Because they must steal stars from the sky to make

your eyes”. “ I have heard that sentence before, do not just take stuff from other people to

chase after a girl”, Miley replied and smile suavely.

They got to know each other since that day. Today is one year since they have

been going out. Jack is waiting for her at the table with rocking- chair near the window

where they often sat on.

Unusually, Miley finds herself talking a lot when she is with Jack. She shares

almost everything with Jack that how cute her little “ Muffin”- her little puppy wakes her

up every morning by lacking her face and slightly biting her finger. She tells him how she

admired an old couple were walking and holding hands on the street, she wondered if

she could be like them 50 years later. She looks at Jack for a moment to see if he listens

or teases her a dreamy girl as often. But, Miley realizes that Jack has not say a word to

respond her story. “ What is the matter? Is something wrong?” she asks knitting her

eyebrows.

Jack looks up, he takes a deep breath, “ Miley…” but he pauses it suddenly. “

Huh?” she’s waiting curiously, blinking her beautiful eyes . “ Let’s just break up,” Jack

throws out.

2. HEARTBROKEN

Jack is so quite today, it does not seem like him. Wait, maybe the guy who is

sitting in front of me now is his twins who got the exactly same gorgeous face. Oh my

Gosh, what are you thinking now, Miley? Jack does not even have a sibling. I enjoy my

own conversation in my mind since Jack is like quiet.

He asks, “ Miley, why are you laughing by yourself?” “ Nothing, I just think of some

random stories”.

The moment starts to be awkward silent again. Jack seems to have something to

tell me. What is he going tell me? Will he ask me to marry him, won’t he? Oh my Gosh,

stop daydreaming again, he is just a college freshman and you are still in high school

now, silly Miley, haha, I thinks of myself.

Suddenly, Jack makes a move:

- Miley…

Oh no, he actually has something to tell me. My heart is jumping now. He’s

saying it, will he or won’t he? Then what am I going to say? I close my eyes to try to

think hardly for it, think of something really sweet and nice to reply him, knitting my

eyebrows.

- Let’s just break up. Jack said

I cannot believe what I just heard. Slowly, I open my eyes in fear. My heart

breaks in pieces. His single words sting my poor heart. My voice is shaky in tears asking

him:

- Stop it, Jack. It’s not funny, I don’t like this joke. Why does it turn out like that? Are

you about asking me to marry you? Why does it turn out breaking up?

He slowly looks in my red eyes:

- I’m sorry, but we never talk about marriage or anything, we are way too young to have

such a serious relationship, you know. I mean I did loved you before, what I gave you

was all true love from the bottom of my heart, but I no longer have the feeling as before

with you. I don’t want to lie to you. I have met a girl in my English class in college. She’s

really smart and pretty, I find myself keep looking at her, I have flirted on her. She likes

me too. Sorry, but I think we should break up because it would be unfair for you if I keep

going out with you while I love another girl.

- Unfair??? You said it’s unfair for me. Then what’s about our love, is it really fair for

our 2 year- love?

I feel like there is an invisible hand is squashing my stomach following after

every single words he said to me. My stomach is lancinating, I still think I’m in a dream

and begging Jack to wake me up. My tears keep falling down along my cheeks, take

away my blush I put on earlier for the date, but it never went like what I wanted that Jack

would have praised how cute, I put on blush because of Jack, and my blush is also gone

now because of tears for him. I barely see Jack clearly, his image is blear in my full of

tears- eyes. Jack is leaving, that invisible hand once more time squashes my throat that I

cannot say a word but watching him leaving me.

3. AWKWARDNESS

Gloomy Monday, while Miley is walking soullessly on the street, unfortunately,

she catches Jack with his new girl hand in hand on the other side of street. Miley doesn’t

know what to do except for hiding from them, she’s fear, she’s too fear to see them or she

would be awkward, embarrassing herself in front of her ex- boyfriend.

They saw her, Jack calls out “ Miley!” Miley turns around, smile awkwardly, she

bets these are the heaviest turning steps she has to make in her life. Jack introduces his

girl:

- Miley, let me introduce you two to each other, this is Rose that I told you before. And

Rose, this is Miley. Uhm, why don’t you girls feel free to have a little chat, I’ll go get

something for us to drink.

Rose is truly a hot girl, she’s such a blonde with sexy sun burnt skin that can

definitely pops out her white mini skirt. Miley just doesn’t understand why Jack makes

her to be in such a weird situation like this, “ but Jack…” Rose takes Miley’s hand down

from waving for Jack.

- Why don’t we talk for a while? I have heard a lot about you from Jack, he told me that

you have very beautiful eyes, and now I believe what he said. You do get such gorgeous

eyes. But you know what, guys don’t like dating girls like you, your eyes are beautiful,

but sad. Guys like girl who can make them happy, guys like girl who are both pretty and

smart. I know how closed you and Jack went through, but that is it, it’s done now. Jack is

mine, we go to the same college, but you are still in high school. So, I think you should

find someone else same background. And don’t say I never tell you, but if you dare

bother my boyfriend, you hear me, my boyfriend, you will get in big trouble.

Miley holds her hand tight to swallow her anger but she cannot stand looking at

Rose’s mouth reviles nonstop. Miley raises her hand up, gives Rose a slap real hard, “

Jack and I broke up, I used to love him, you have problem with that? But I can ensure

that I’m not kind of girl who seduces other’s boyfriend, you don’t have to tell me, you are

better take care of yourself and keep him on your side. I don’t care to know about your

business”.

Suddenly, Miley hear a very familiar voice calling her:

- Miley, Miley, are you okay? This is your drink.

“ Oh, that was my daydream again, why am I always in such an awkward

situation. Daydream in front of your ex boyfriend and his girl. Can you do anything more

embarrassing than this, Miley? If what I had done to Rose was real, how good would it

have been. I wish I have been strong to tell her like that, or at least tell her to be nicer to

me. Ohhhhh,” Miley thinks of herself.

- Thanks Jack, but I cannot chat with you and Rose right now because I have to go, I

have an appointment. Bye.

Miley quickly leaves into a crowded group on the street, leaves behind her the

writhe from both Jack and Rose.

4. NEW GUY-REVENGE

Miley goes to the school library to do her homework. There is a new tutor today,

he’s from UC Berkeley, the college Jack is attending now, but he’s an junior. Miley is

working on her math review sheet. How sucks, the Finals is coming, and she seems like

forgetting everything except for the newest chapter, besides, breaking up with Jack has

been taking away too much attention from her, she’s actually stuck now. The new tutor

steps forward to Miley’s desk:

- Hi, I’m Dylan, new tutor here. If you have any problems, just feel free to ask me, I’ll

help you as well as I can.

- Uhm, I’m Miley. I’m having Finals next week, and I don’t really know what I’m doing

now. I’m stuck, I don’t remember how to do those.

After the tutoring, Miley goes home, she catches Rose is waiting for someone. “

Oh no, not again, why is Rose here at this time? Look like she’s waiting for someone,

Jack must be around here. Oh Gosh, I have to hide them again, I can’t stand to meet

them. Being a good friend with the new girl of your ex- boyfriend, c’mon, what a joke.

No, I’d better go to another gate”, Miley thinks. However, an unexpected scene stops her

feet, Rose jumps to Dylan, holds his arm tightly. Miley can’t believe in what she just see,

“ they look like very closed, and Rose is going out with Jack, I thought she loved Jack a

lot after all the bitchy conversation she threw out to my face on last Monday. No way,

she is cheating on him, how could she do that after getting him from me and then dumped

him?”

Miley goes to the next tutor on Friday. This time she starts studying Dylan’s face

carrying in her mind a big question mark. He’s actually handsome when she looks at him

closely. He got Miley’s perfect ideal hair color for guy, light brown, she thinks blonde is

so girlish for guy, they look more manly with brown hair. His eyes are gorgeous and

mysterious green. Miley is almost attracted by his beauty, she forgets what she’s

supposed to ask him.

- Dylan, I need help in Calculus, can you help me?

- Of course, what are you stuck in?

- Uhm, those Rate of change problem, I can’t understand them, I always have a hard time

with word problem

- Don’t worry, they just want to make you confused with complex idea, but what you

should do is carefully read them sentences by sentences. You’ll understand. Let me see

what problem that is

They solved that problem together. It has been a while she didn’t smile her

innocent big smile since Jack dumped her. Miley thinks this is a good time to ask him:

- So, do you like tutoring here?

- Yeah, it’s nice to help people. By looking at you guys, I remember my high school life,

I used to have hard time in high school too, and just like you, I got help from tutoring, so

now I want to help others.

- Oh, I saw you and a pretty girl in front of the school last time. Was that your girlfriend?

- Her? No, she’s my classmate who has a crush on me. But I’m not going out with me.

- Oh, so that is it. I’m just curious. Thanks for the help. I’ll see you next week.

- Okay, bye. Take care.

“ So, Rose is cheating on Jack, what a smart superficial girl. Dylan is smart,

handsome and mature. Jack is a sweetheart who always know how to make his girlfriend

smiles,” Miley now understand all Rose’s weird acting.

She quickly opens her laptop, writes a message to Dylan on facebook. From now

on, she decides to chase for Dylan who Rose has such a huge crush on. She has to take

away Dylan in front of Rose like the way Rose stole Jack from her.

That night, Miley reads her Inbox, Dylan said “ no” to her because he wants to let

her focus on review things before Finals. “ I won’t give up on you”, Miley replies even

though Dylan ignored her. She knows how hard to chase a college junior, he probably

thinks Miley is still childish.

5. TUTORING

I first saw her while I visited my dear college advisor. I actually got a lot of help

from her during high school, without her help, I don’t guarantee that I can go to UC

Berkeley now. She was sleeping on the deck. How cute, how can a person sleep in public

like that? Her small lips are opening and full like a cherry. Besides, books and papers are

on over the deck. Girls are so cute while they sleep.

- Hi, Ms Brown. I come to see you…again…

- Hi Dylan, how is your college? Do you know that you are the only student that often

comes to visit me after graduation?

- My college life is awesome. How are you doing?

- I’m good, honey. My job here is helping those seniors to get ready for college just like

you used to.

- By the way, who is that girl over there? She’s sleeping, does she really study?

- Oh, she’s a senior too. She comes here to do her homework mostly everyday. She’s a

sweetheart, last time she made me a birthday cake.

- Uhm, do you know if I can tutor here? I have some free time, so I want to help tutoring.

- Of course. You are always welcome to come tutoring here anytime. We appreciate that,

honey.

First day of tutoring, I can’t help myself staring at her. Even the way she is stuck

over those bunch of review sheets is cute too. The way she hardly puts herself in studying

is so delight attractive. I step forward to her:

- Hi, I’m Dylan, new tutor here. If you have any problems, just feel free to ask me, I’ll

help you as well as I can.

- Uhm, I’m Miley. I’m having Finals next week, and I don’t really know what I’m doing now. I’m stuck, I don’t remember how to do those.

- Oh, you’re stuck, it’s ok, I can help you, just show what you need help with.

Our first meet is gone perfect. But this time, she asks me out, should I say yes?

That’s definitely what I want, I want to go out with her. Oh no, then I would turn to be as

every other guys who only like dating her. I like her, which means I have to do what is

good for her. I have to say “ no” to her now and helping her with Finals. After Finals, I

will ask you out, Miley. I will make you happy and ask you out as a mature guy, do what

a nice guy do for his girlfriend.

6. BETRAY

The day getting Finals result finally come, Miley is nervous see her grade, “ oh

gee, I got all As. Oh my Gosh, no, I have to check them again. Those are really my

grades. I got all As”. Miley calls Dylan to celebrate for their hard work:

- Hello?

- Hello, it’s Miley. I got all As, thank you Dylan. It’s because of all your help. Let’s go

out for dinner. I’ll buy you since you help me a lot.

- It’s so nice, congratulation. You have been studying very hard too, you earn them.

Yeah, let’s go have dinner together. You don’t have to pay me anything. I’ll buy you, I

have something to say too. How can I let a girl buy me meal?

- Ok, I’ll see you then

Miley and her best friend Emma go shopping after the call. She wants to dress up

for the date with Dylan. Miley is so excited that she tells Emma about Dylan:

- He’s so handsome and smart. I thought I just tried to get him away from Rose to take

revenge on her because I know Rose has such a crush on him. But now, I think I fall for

him.

Miley will never know that Rose is in that store at that time too. She heard all the

conversation that Miley is dating with Dylan.

Miley comes to the date with her new dress and Dylan is waiting for her since a

while. She waves him and give him a biggest sweetest smile. Dylan looks so attractive

tonight, he wears his formal suits, she guess a Hollywood director would ask him to be in

the movie if he saw Dylan today. Miley makes a joke:

- No more jeans today, huh?

- Yeah, no more jeans. All jeans business must be sad because they miss a customer like

me.

They laugh together so comfortably and joyfully. Dylan changes the topic:

- Miley, Can I ask you something?

- Of course, Dylan. What’s up?

- Uhm, hold on. I’m kind of nervous. Just a sec.

- Okay, whenever You feel comfortable.

Dylan takes a deep breath, he want to ask with all the sincere voice of his heart:

- Miley, I really like you since the first time we met. Would you go out with me and be

my girl?

Rose is from nowhere interrupts their conversation:

- No, you can’t Dylan. She doesn’t like you. She’s nice to you and closed to you because

she wants to take revenge on me Because I took Jack, her ex- boyfriend, away from her ,

she wants to chase you from me. You can’t like her. I swear all I said is true, I heard she

said to her friend that. You have to believe me, Dylan.

She angrily turns to Miley, argues her tremblinbgly:

- Right, Miley? What I’m saying is true that you’re taking revenge on me by chasing

Dylan. Say it, say something. Or it’s because it’s true so you have nothing to say to us.

Oh how nasty you are…

Dylan holds Miley’s hand, runs out the restaurant.

- Say something, Miley. At least you have to say something to me. Why are you so quiet

today?

Miley slowly replies him in tear:

- Rose is right.

Dylan yells at her angrily:

- She’s right about what? I don’t care what she said or what happened in the past, I don’t

care if it’s true that you’re taking revenge, what I care right now is if you like me? I don’t

believe all things we have been through are fake. Tell me! I just want to hear whether you

love me or not?

- Dylan, I’m truly sorry I broke your heart. But if you can give me once more time, I will

try all my best to let you hear my heartbeat, let you see the bottom of it that I really like

you. I know the pain I gave you will never heal but I really want to help you cover it. I

will never let it hurt you again.

They give each other the sweetest kiss ever with all their pure love, all their trust,

all their forgiveness.

Nine months later.

Finally, Miley attends in UC Berkeley, hand in hand she’s walking on the

Berkeley campus with her boyfriend Dylan everyday.
