Last trip with granny
(MONICA talks on the phone with her grandma telling her about her day)
MOINCA-itŐs always along day at school. I had finals night classes and addition to that I had to go to work with an old sweaty boss named Rubio breathing down my neck where ever I went.
MONICA (NARRATOR)-I new that needed to clam my nerves and take some me time. I called my local gym to sign back up for jazzercise class, I know what your thinking jazzercise really but yes I was a little skeptical at first but I was invited by my grandma the fun one the grandma that drinks more red bulls than me and drinks them like water. She is that best
(Grandma came to pick Monica up from work. To go to her first day of jazzercise class. Monica is waiting outside for her grandma outside her job talking to her mom on the phone,)
Monica-Mama I just hope she donŐt pull up I that shitter. Oh god!
Monica (NARRATOR)-She pulled up in her paint chipped booger green Oldsmobile with the squeaky brakes and smoking exhaust pipe. When she pulled up I put on my hood and leaded my seat back, so no one could see me in grandmaŐs hoopty.
Grandma-How did work go ? hows your day going baby?
Monica-it could have been better uhhÉ granny watch the road.
GRANDMA-OH HUSH UP CHILD I BEEN DRIVING SINCE YOU WAS BORN. IM THE BEST DRIVER IN ATLANTA Georgia.
MONICA-(NARRATOR) She lying. See the one thing I hate about granny was that she wasnŐt a driving miss daisy type of women but more like a road rage high speed race car granny.
MONICA- Can you slowdown we have forty minutes to get there!
Grandma-Yes, look child I got to be there on time to stretch I just cant not jump in to jazzercise its an on going process I got to move these old bones of mine.
Monica-No.
Monica (Narrator) Most of the time I just look out the window in tune her out. I started to her the vibration of her talking in my ear. It started to get louder.
GRANDMA- Girl did you hear me?
MONICA-Watch out!!!
(GRANDMA slams on the brakes and blows her horn)
Grandma- they came out of no
where?
MONICA- like I was about to say yes to her?
Grandma-so like I was saying are you excited about going to class with me tonight? You will love it
Monica- I hope I love it.
MONICA- is there kids there my age?
Grandma- All ages.
(Grandma makes a sharp right turn from the far left line almost hitting two cars; she parks behind the gym in a handicap parking spot.)
Monica- you canŐt park here you arenŐt handicapped,
Grandma –oh yes I am over fifty and that should count for something now are we done with all these Q and AŐs or can we go inside now?
MONICA-yea we can.
Monica(Narrator) it was about a god twenty steps to get to the front door of the gym and within that time I started shaking I was nervous kind of like when someone who has stager fright ends up on stage?... I opened the doors to the gym and omg!
Monica- it was nothing but grannies in leotards and jazz shoes old women the dance teacher had so much work done on her face she had a permit smile.
I was totally going to walk back home until I saw my grandma looking at me telling me to stretch so I did.
Jazz Teacher -ok class lets get in line and stretch
Monica-I bent over and when I popped back up I had an old saggy butt cheeks in my face, then the teacher said bend over in rotate your butt, I felt my stomach turning the same way as the old grannyŐs ass. (I ran out the door)
GRANDMA- WHERE YOU GOING???/
MONICA-HOME!
