Characters:

Alicia, Older sister

Cathy, Little sister

Scene: Cathy and Alicia are outside. Alicia is sitting on play swing outside and listening to her iPod but Cathy keeps bothering her. Helen is inside cooking.

Cathy: Ha Ha I got your iPod! (Grabs AliciaÕs I-pod, ripping it out her ears and dances around her holding up the iPod teasing her.)

Alicia: (looks stunned which quickly turns to anger) Hey! Give that back you little twit-

Cathy: MOM ALICIA CALLED ME A NAME!

Helen: (Sticks her head out of the open sliding door and looks at Alicia) Alicia be the bigger person please?

Alicia: (looks at her mother surprised) Mom but she took my iPod-

Helen: (annoyed) Alicia. Please!

(Alicia sighs heavily and stares at her sister angrily as her mother goes back into the house)

Alicia: Give me my stuff back. Please! (Alicia thrust her hands out annoyed)

(Cathy hands over the i-pod and sits on the other swing as Alicia puts her earphones back in and blasts her music. A few minutes later Cathy taps her on her shoulder)

Alicia: (takes out one earphone) What. Do. You. Want?

Cathy: Tell me a story. I wanna hear a story!

Alicia: not right now (Begins to put earphone back in)

Cathy: Please. Please. Please. Please. Please? (Continuously poking Alicia with her finger)

Alicia: FINE! (she takes out her i-pod and wraps it up stuffing it in her pocket).

Cathy: what story-

Alicia: Just. Listen.

(Cathy nods excited)

Alicia: This is the story of how you came to mom and dad! Ok. So mom and and dad really wanted another child after they had me. And so the stork came again and dropped you off. But mom and dad already had a girl so they really wanted a boy-

Cathy: (folding her hands over her chest tightly) I wasnÕt supposed to be a boy! Boys are icky!

Alicia: (smirks) so as I was saying mom and dad really wanted a boy.  They wished and hoped for a boy. They even crossed their fingers and toes. The stork heard their wish for a boy and so the stork grabbed a blue bundle from the tree of babies.

Cathy: But baby boys are blue and girls are pink!.... And thereÕs a tree of babies-

Alicia: Just listen. Anyways so as I was saying, the stork grabbed a blue bundle from the tree of babies except the stork had bad eyes and instead of grabbing a blue bundle he grabbed a PINK bundle. With the bundle in his beak he took off in the sky and made his way to our house. The stork soared through clouds and flew day and night because he felt how much mom and dad wanted another baby.

(Alicia pauses and looks over at her sister who is staring at her intently frown on her face)

Alicia: The stork was trying so hard to avoid things in the clouds that he had to dip down low and get back up higher again. Once he forgot to get higher and he scraped you against a tree branch!

Cathy: Really? No way! Your lying!

Alicia: Really? Am I? why do you think you have that really weird scar above your eyebrow then?

Cathy: (touches her scar and frowns)

Alicia: (shakes her head) do you want me to tell you the story or not?

Cathy: I-I donÕt know if I want to hear this story anymore-

Alicia: too bad. You wanted to hear a story and IÕm telling you the story so just be quiet and listen.

(Cathy shrinks away from Alicia a little but gets quiet)

Alicia: As I was saying, The stork had scraped you against a tree but he didnÕt notice and kept on going.

Cathy: how could you NOT notice hitting me?

Alicia: (Shrugs)  Beats me!

(Cathy gets quiet again)

Alicia: So the stork had to fly over the ocean and he was getting really tired and hungry after all that flying. So thinking that you would be ok he set you securely on a tree branch and went to go get some food from the ocean. You squirmed and cried so much that you fell out the tree and hit a jagged rock!

Cathy: No way!

Alicia: (shrugs and pulls out her Ipod. Giving her the back of it to see for herself) See for yourself

(Cathy grabs the Ipod and peers at her reflection seeing a lopsided image she starts tear up)

Alicia: (Continues unaffected) so anyways the stork inspected you and seeing that there was nothing wrong he bundled you back up and continued flying to our house. FINALLY he got here and mom and dad ran out the house arms wide open. The stork dropped you and they caught you and excitedly opened the bundle expecting a boy. When they saw it was another girl they were a little sad but they kept you! And here you are 6 years later!

Cathy: MOMMY! MOMMY! MOMMY! (Cathy runs in the house, tears streaming down her face)

(Alicia gets her I-pod out a satisfied grin on her face. Just then Helen storms out the house an angry look on her face, Cathy hiding behind her leg)

Helen: did you tell your sister that a stork scraped her against a tree and she fell on a rock and that her face is lopsided and that we settled for a girl even though we wanted a boy?

Alicia: Yes but-

Helen: NO butts! (Sticks out her hand impatiently for her IPod)

Alicia: (Gives her the IPod angrily)

Helen: And youÕre grounded for a week!

(Helen goes back into the house with Cathy right behind her. Just before they get inside Cathy turns around and sticks her tongue out at her)

Alicia: (mumbles) stupid tattle telling little sisterÉ
